The Democratic primary winner finished the night with 22,000 more votes than Paul sailed to a win on. In fact, overall, 170,000 more voters came out to vote for Democrats than Republicans or teabaggers.
In Murtha's seat -- much portrayed by the GOP as "low hanging fruit", a red district that went for McCain, and polled in favor of repealing health care reform -- went solidly to Critz, every bit the example of an establishment Democrat.
And in PA-12, Specter was toppled by a more progressive candidate, Joe Sestak.
I mention all of this just to ask... what sleeping giant is it you're seeing?
One thing we know so far, Jason, is that long-term incumbency and federal legislative seniority isn't quite the advantage it used to be.
It's a little too early in the 2010 election cycle to pinpoint the true key dynamic here; but even a Democrat like you would have to admit that it's an interesting dynamic, No?
