Oct 12th - Dan Liljenquist

Weber County Republicans are having Senator Dan Liljenquist come speak to us about the financial future of Utah and why his medicaid reform was necessary to prevent a financial disaster.

Senator Dan Liljenquist has a history of doing what other say can not be done. When he joined the Utah Senate in 2009, he was told to wait for 20 years or so before he tackled any substantive pension reform. After all, he was told, no freshman could make that kind of difference. He ignored that "advice" and figured out a way to pull the state back from the brink of bankruptcy. The pension reforms he conceived, championed, then passed are now considered model legislation by states around the country.

Next, he heard that nothing could be done about out-of-control Medicaid spending, but again, he ignored those voices and came up with substantive reforms to Medicaid spending, helping Utah become the first state in the nation to cap its Medicaid spending. The extensive reforms passed unanimously - a testament to Senator Liljenquist's tenacity and ability to solve complex problems.

Come listen to Senator Liljenquist as he gives the straight scoop on the fiscal realities we face - and what we can do about them.
